Love Notes: The 2027 Couples Are On Deck (Vol. 12)
There are certain traditions I look forward to every summer.
One of my favorites has nothing to do with weddings.
Every year, I make it a point to go to a Pittsburgh Pirate's baseball game with my husband and our children and their significant others. It doesn't matter who's playing or whether our team wins or loses. (Let's go Bucs!) It's about spending time together. It's about the conversations between innings, the laughter over overpriced ballpark snacks, and the memories we make that somehow become part of our family's story.
As I look forward to continuing this tradition later this summer, I already find myself thinking about the players waiting patiently for their turn at bat—and surprisingly, that has me thinking about my couples. More specifically, my 2027 couples.
If you've ever been to a baseball game, you've seen the player standing on deck. They're not at the plate yet. They're watching. Preparing. Waiting for their moment.
And that's exactly where many of my 2027 couples are right now.
Some of you are newly engaged and still finding yourselves staring at your ring every chance you get.
Some of you have booked a venue, chosen a date, and already begun collecting inspiration.
Some of you are wondering where to begin, and some of you are simply enjoying being engaged before diving into the planning process.
No matter where you are in your journey, you're on deck.
The beautiful thing about being on deck is that nobody expects you to rush to the plate.
This season isn't about hurrying through checklists and timelines.
It's about dreaming together.
It's about future plans, shared goals, and imagining what your life together will look like.
It's about learning how to navigate decisions as a team and creating a foundation for the marriage that comes long after the wedding day has passed.
As a wedding officiant, I have the privilege of standing with couples at one of the most meaningful moments of their lives. I get to witness the vows, the tears, the laughter, and the joy as two people begin a new chapter together.
But those moments don't begin at the altar; they begin long before the wedding day. They begin in seasons like this one. The season of anticipation and preparation. The season of becoming.
And perhaps that's why baseball resonates with me. Not because of the final score, but because every inning matters. Every moment contributes to the story.
Before I close, I'd like to give a special nod to the 2027 couples who have already entrusted me with the honor of officiating your wedding. Thank you.
Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of such a significant chapter in your lives. While your wedding day may still feel far away, your story is already unfolding, and I am honored to walk alongside you on this journey.
I can't wait to hear your stories, learn what makes your relationship unique, and stand with you when the day finally arrives.
For now, enjoy being on deck. Take the engagement photos, go on the date nights, and celebrate the milestones. Don't rush this season away because before you know it, your family and friends will be gathered, the music will begin, and it will be your turn to step up to the plate.
And when your moment comes...
Batter Up.
Moore Love Always,
Kelly
